(NEW YORK) — Jamie Foxx and Jesse Eisenberg lend their voices to the animated film Rio, opening Friday, but Foxx is hoping it won’t be the last time the two work together.
Foxx is hoping to collaborate with The Social Network star again on a movie from his new production company, No Brainer.
Foxx said, “I got my fingers crossed that he will accept and we’ll do something fantastic together and I’ll be on the other side of the camera producing and possibly directing him in this really, really clever movie that I have.”
Foxx’s production company also recently shot what he calls a “teaser pilot” for NBC titled Tommy’s Little Girl, starring Selma Blair, Tony Sirico and Paul Sorvino. Foxx calls the project his “video business card” that will allow him to establish himself as a producer.

/ April 14, 2011WHAT?
…..
I’m sorry but my first thought is: is there a polite way to refuse this?
cecille
/ April 14, 2011Well, if the plot would seem interesting, I’d go for it!
Jamie seems like an OK guy, and an Oscar winner to boot so that doesn’t hurt.
But Jesse has too much on his plate now… in one of his new interviews, he mentioned an off Broadway play this year, right? I assume that’s the play he held off last year as he was asked to promote TSN everywhere.
Jamie dear, maybe Michael Cera is available? LOL

/ April 14, 2011I liked Jamie Foxx in Ray, but not much in anything else. I’m sure he’s a great guy in real life, and a great actor – but I’d rather Jesse not risk being his experimental target in a bigscreen movie directing debut. (sounds like it is)
The track record of No Brainer doesn’t give me confidence either. JF founded it last year with some guy called Deon Taylor whose most notable recent project might be a thriller called Chain Letter…. a solid 4.0 on IMDB. (Similar projects with similar results in the past 4 years.)
So I have serious doubts about JF’s taste in “really clever” movies….
And I don’t buy any chemistry between Jamie and Jesse either…. the interaction so far feels pretty one-sided. I don’t understand why JF is telling this to journalists so soon if nothing’s close to settling.
But like cecille you said, Jesse would be horribly busy anyway. Filmg for Predisposed will commence very soon and there’re his plays, musicals, 30 minutes or less will come out in August, Woody Allen, etc.
A whole lot on his plate. XD a simple “no time” will suffice.

/ April 15, 2011Thanks for the info on No Brainer, wow, you really do know how to do your research JuL.
I’m more excited to hear about the plays and/or musicals (both?) that Jesse wrote, and I really hope they get off the ground soon.

/ April 15, 2011In a way though Jamie Foxx revealing in public his desire to work with Jesse is flattering…

/ April 15, 2011LOL not at all, I just googled “No Brainer Deon Taylor” for 2 minutes and read up on the first 5 articles that came up… I had time.
It’s flattering that JF wants him so badly, but speaking to journalists about it – when Jesse hasn’t even expressed active interest – makes it more public and gossip-provoking if Jesse eventually turns it down. It feels rather pressurizing to me. I wish he hadn’t done that.
Me too about the musicals. Jesse did say Me Time is now being produced after his oscar nomination. Maybe in another 2 years? XDD
cecille
/ April 15, 2011Yes, Jamie could have expressed it in a more subtle way, not the way he did ‘coz it kind of puts Jesse in the spot… and if there’s one thing Jesse hates, it’s the spotlight LOL! Did that make sense?
Crossing fingers for the musicals/plays!
