MOFILM presents: A Film about a Social Network from a Social Network of Filmmakers, Featuring Jesse Eisenberg
MOFILM’s David Alberts chats to Jesse Eisenberg on stage at Cannes Lions, following the actor’s performance as Mark Zuckerberg in the 2010 film The Social Network.

Trained in theater and film, Jesse Eisenberg made his feature film debut in the 2002 independent film, Rodger Dodger, in which he starred opposite Campbell Scott and was nominated for a Gotham Award.
Most recently, Jesse starred in the Sony film, The Social Network, for director David Fincher, which opened in theatres October 1, 2010. Jesse has garnered the following awards for his performance in the film: Best Actor Award from the National Board of Review, Boston Society of Film Critics, Oklahoma Film Critics Circle, Toronto Film Critics Association and the Village Voice/LA Weekly Critics Poll. Additionally, Jesse received a nomination for Best Actor from the Golden Globe Awards as well as nominations in the category of Best Actor from the London Film Critics Circle Awards, Screen Actors Guild, Broadcast Film Critics Association, Chicago Film Critics Association, Detroit Film Critics, Houston Film Critics Society, Online Film Critics Society, Phoenix Film Critics Society and Utah Film Critics Association. The film recently surpassed $200MM in worldwide box office receipts.
Jesse also starred in the 2010 independent film, Holy Rollers, the true story of a young man from a Hasidic Jewish community who is lured into becoming an Ecstasy dealer.
In 2009, he starred opposite Kristen Stewart in Adventureland for director Greg Mottola and opposite Woody Harrelson in Zombieland for director Ruben Fleischer. For these films, he was nominated for a BAFTA Award.
For his performance in The Squid and the Whale opposite Laura Linney and Jeff Daniels, Jesse received nominations for an Independent Spirit Award and a Boston Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Jesse is also the lead voice of the 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios animated film Rio, opposite Anne Hathaway. The film opens on 3D screens on April 15, 2011.
He teamed up again this past summer with director Ruben Fleischer to shoot the Sony/MRC film, 30 Minutes or Less, opposite Danny McBride. The film will be released on August 12, 2011.
On stage, Jesse most recently appeared in Scarcity at the Atlantic Theater Company and starred opposite Al Pacino as ‘Philip’ in Lyle Kessler’s play, Orphans.
Also a writer, Jesse has written several plays, to premier off-Broadway in 2011, and the music and lyrics to Me Time!, a musical.
Jesse has also been published in Dave Eggers’ McSweeneys Quarterly Concern, McSweeneys, and his most recent piece was picked up by The New York Times and Harper’s.
